Reading the Word of God
Reading the Word of God, called lectio divina occupies a very important place in the spiritual life of the monk. Throughout the common celebrations of worship, he listens to the texts of the Holy Scripture, the reading of which is interrupted by moments of silence during which he allows himself to be penetrated by the word.
This " internal work " will continue throughout the whole day and progressively fills the entire life of the monk. It is accompanied by a reading of the Church Fathers, the great ancient and modern theologians and scientific studies of the Bible.
The purpose of the atmosphere of silence maintained throughout the whole monastery and through the day is to encourage continuous attention to the word of God.
