History of the cheeses of Chimay

The region of Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse has always been an area where cows are bred, and thus also a region of dairy production.

Naturally, wherever cows have given milk, man has made cheese. Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse is also home to several handcrafted cheeses. Among these, there is one cheese that is highly appreciated by connoisseurs, a spreadable cheese with the taste of the countryside, gradually becoming more significant: the Chimay Trappist cheese.
